Thank you for stopping by. We're a small, family-run practice on Margate High Street, and we look after every pet that comes through our door the way we'd want our own looked after: with patience, kindness and the very best care we can give. Whether it's a first vaccination, a sore paw or a 3am emergency, you'll always find a friendly face who is glad to see you both.

With patience, kindness and the very best care we can give. It's how we'd want our own family's pets looked after.

Independent since day one, carrying on the tradition of two families. Day or night, you'll always see our own team.

We'll only ever suggest what your pet truly needs, talk the options through with you and give you a written estimate at your consultation.

Dr John has never stopped learning since joining the RCVS Register in 2006, so your pet gets thoughtful, up-to-date care.

Meet John
Head of WelcomesFluffy French Bulldog
Our fluffy Frenchie, and a daily reminder of why flat-faced breeds are so close to our hearts.
Flat-faced breed care
Head of SecuritySmooth mini dachshund
Short of leg, long of back and every inch a miniature dachshund. Dachshunds like Chevy are more prone to back problems such as IVDD (slipped discs), so we keep a close eye on spines and joints.
Orthopaedics & surgery
Head of NoiseAmazon parrot
Our resident parrot, and a big reason we love caring for birds, rabbits, reptiles and other exotic pets.
Exotic & bird careHere's what our clients have to say.
I feel so safe knowing that John is there anytime, day or night, to care for her.
This vet does what is necessary and what is right.
John recently performed hernia surgery on my dog, Nala, and the care she received was truly exceptional.
John is an absolutely amazing vet that makes it his life work to look after and treat animals. John is an absolute one-off vet who always puts animals first and I wouldn't go anywhere else with my dog. She means the world to me and I feel so safe knowing that John is there anytime, day or night, to care for her. I feel so lucky to have found him and the rest of the staff are amazing too.
I don't think I have ever met a vet like this vet, and the nursing staff and team are just so friendly. I see John for all my animals, my cats and dogs and smaller animals. This vet does what is necessary and what is right. My dogs were as right as rain straight after an op with this surgeon; it was like they had nothing done, they felt so well and comfortable. Both my dogs had firmly and neatly tucked, excellently stitched wounds and looked so well, no redness or anything. If you are extra worried you can tell John and he will go forward with more investigation, as he did with my cat Fifi, but he never ever will do what is not necessary. Very trustworthy, very excellent and totally dedicated. Both vet and all the staff love animals, and it shows.
Great care and service at this vets… I wouldn't take my dogs to any other vet than to Vintage.
I can't recommend Vintage Veterinary Practice enough! John recently performed hernia surgery on my dog, Nala, and the care she received was truly exceptional. John is an amazing, highly experienced vet who clearly loves and genuinely cares for the animals in his practice. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets! 5 stars from me.
John has gone above and beyond to help our fluffy family. We had a very trying and relentless time with several of our pets this year. Nothing but care and compassion for our pets and us. We value John and all those who support him. Thank you.
Since moving from our old vets two years ago, the level of care and service we receive here is head and shoulders above anything we experienced elsewhere. Our dog had an accident this year and a growth requiring a large surgery, and both experiences have been treated with respect and provided first-rate care. Fair charging structure, but best of all animal-centred care from every single person. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Would highly recommend. I have rats, which are considered 'exotic' pets requiring specialist care and experience. Very few vets in Kent offer this service, and after receiving a truly ridiculous quote from my usual exotic vet for a lump removal and spay, I knew I needed to look further afield and find somewhere independent. I was able to register Rue as a patient at Vintage and take her in the same day for a consultation. I was provided with a quote immediately (which was significantly less than quoted elsewhere) and the surgery was scheduled for two days later. The care shown was great and the staff went above and beyond. Despite it being an hour's drive away I'll definitely use them for future care. Thanks so much to Vintage Vets for looking after Rue, who has recovered brilliantly.
As a licensed breeder I wouldn't go anywhere else. All our puppies get checked over by John and not once have we had any upset during their injections and microchip. No hard sale, no unnecessary tests. Just excellent pet care and professional service. I've tried several other vets around and had nothing but issues and bills. I started using Vintage Veterinary Practice around a year ago and I highly recommend them.
My cats are always exceptionally well cared for at this veterinary clinic. The whole team is professional, caring and always ready to help. I highly recommend this clinic and would give it the highest possible number of stars!
